From the November 2016 Burnaby Arts Council newsletter:

Retrospective Views is a group exhibition that will be held at The Deer Lake Gallery featuring the work of Chris Robson and Sabine Simons.  Retrospective Views is hosted and organized by The Burnaby Arts Council.  The exhibition will open Saturday November 5th, 2016 and run until November 26th.

Retrospective Views is a unique combination of traditional and non-traditional techniques that find their origins in the historic aspects of our society. Simons approaches the subject matter of the past in a more current expression as she makes use of all manner of modern mediums. Image transfer, collage, resin among others have all been used to bridge the past and the present. Simons, having grown up in the old world of Leipzig Germany, is culturally aware of the youth of the West Coast of Canada. Highlighting the architectural aspects of Vancouver and Burnaby with her intuitive process, she adds beautiful vivid colour and forms to the subject matter. Simons is a resident of Vancouver and Partner at Arts Off Main Gallery.
